ABOUT US
WHO WE ARE
We are outstanding close-harmony vocal ensembles with a contemporary approach to choral singing.
In short: we are a new breed of choir...

… and we are on a mission to rebrand ensemble singing.
WHAT WE DO
We create communities and real friendships through singing. Filling the gap between amateur and professional, we challenge our members to take their singing to the next level and nurture their talent to bring them out of the shadows and into the spotlight (sorrynotsorry).
We also create unique, immersive concert experiences for our audiences with exciting arrangements you won’t hear anywhere else.
We achieve all of this through our four core principles below:
HOW WE DO IT
(oh, and also a healthy dose of madness)
On a Friday evening in 2008, in a cosy living room somewhere in the Suffolk countryside; four singing students and their teacher sat down at a piano, started to sing their favourite songs together and Out Of The Shadows was born.

The original group has had dramatic changes in numbers and faces over the years and since 2016, Out Of The Shadows has evolved into multiple adult ensembles. As we have grown, so have the number of opportunities for performance, musical training, laughter and memories, guided by our ethos and principles which remain the same as when the original group started.
